We offer three age-specific, risk-profiled investment portfolios: the Growth, Balanced and Defensive funds. This flagship range is one of the top multi-asset class risk-profiled ranges in South Africa.

Southern Charter BCI Growth Fund

The Southern Charter BCI Growth Fund of Funds is an aggressively managed fund of funds. The primary investment objective of the portfolio is to provide the investor with a relatively high long term total return.
The Fund aims to provide investors with capital growth above inflation over the longer term by investing in a combination of asset classes including local and international equities, fixed interest, property and cash. As the Fund has a high allocation growth assets, it is ideal for investors with a long investment horizon, who seek capital growth and who are at least 10 years from retirement. The fund is Regulation 28 compliant.
Southern Charter BCI Balanced Fund

The Southern Charter BCI Balanced Fund of Funds is a moderate managed fund of funds. The primary investment objective of the portfolio is to provide the investor with a moderate total return.
The Fund aims to provide investors with capital growth above inflation over the longer term by investing in a combination of asset classes including local and international equities, fixed interest, property and cash. As the Fund has a medium allocation growth assets, it is ideal for investors with a medium investment horizon, who seek capital growth and who are at least 5 - 10 years from retirement. The fund is Regulation 28 compliant.

The Southern Charter BCI Defensive Fund of Funds is a cautious managed fund of funds. The primary investment objective of the portfolio is to provide the investor with a high level of income and stable capital growth.
The Fund aims to provide investors with capital growth above inflation by investing in a combination of asset classes including local and international equities, fixed interest, property and cash. The Fund looks to provide capital stability and is ideal for investors with a shorter investment horizon, who seek capital growth and who are within 5 years of retirement. The fund is Regulation 28 compliant.

Southern Charter BCI Worldwide Flexible Fund

The Southern Charter BCI Worldwide Flexible Fund of Funds primary objective is to generate moderate to high long term total returns. The fund aims to provide investors with capital growth above inflation by investing in a combination of asset classes including local and international equities, fixed interest, property and cash.
The manager shall have maximum flexibility in terms of asset allocation and shall not be precluded from continually varying the underlying exposure to both local and offshore assets such as equities, non-equity securities, bonds, preference shares, property, fixed interest, money market portfolios and assets in liquid form. This fund is NOT Regulation 28 compliant and therefore will reflect our best unconstrained asset allocation strategy. It is ideal for investors with discretionary funds and who are willing to have a high exposure to offshore assets.

Global Balanced Portfolio

The Southern Charter Global Balanced Portfolio aims to provide investors with capital growth of 5% above US inflation over the longer term by investing in a well diversified mix of asset classes including international equities, fixed interest, property, absolute return fund, natural resources and cash.
The Fund is actively managed with a value bias. By focusing on macro themes, the Fund looks to exploit valuation discrepancies in asset classes. The allocation to equities will be max 60%, depending on economic conditions with a neutral weighting of 50%. The allocation to assets other than equities, aims to reduce the risk of capital loss in the portfolio.
